A manual VPN connection to ExpressVPN servers can be set up on an openSUSE or ArchLinux machine and works well enough, though user experience may not be as reliable compared with using the native Debian/Red Hat apps provided by ExpressVPN or the router configuration recommended from their support site.

5. ExpressVPN was surprisingly fast during Christmas 2016, perhaps due to my location in Asia. However, ExpressVPN struggled badly during New Years day 2017 with the service almost unusable unless you switch to the Tokyo servers.
6. Early morning and Chinese holidays are the best times for using the VPN service since the bandwidth opens up and helps the service quite a bit regardless of which ExpressVPN server you choose.
7. The usla server (Los Angeles) is extremely reli able with hk, tokyo, and usla2 the best when it comes to accessing US-based websites. If you need faster speeds with non-essential browsing, switch to the Hong Kong servers, though most sites such as YouTube curate content specifically for HK locals.
8. The Windows 10 Mobile manual configuration works well on the Lumia 650, but it when you cant connect, its hard to determine the cause if you dont have another device to check VPN functionality. In general, a good Wi-Fi connection is required for Windows 10 Mobile to maintain the connection.

Hey, your post was interesting and very useful for me. I was looking for expressvpn review for Beijing users so it is exactly what I had been seeking for. I am also in need of data privacy when I access the internet through VPN and I think expressvpn would be the best choice as they have no log policy.
